LOS ÁNGELES – 16 de noviembre de 2021 – The Game Awards, la mayor celebración anual de la industria del videojuego, ha anunciado hoy sus nominados para 2021, con Deathloop, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, It Takes Two y Psychonauts 2 encabezan las nominaciones. La impresionante lista de nominados de este año, que destaca los principales juegos, estudios y creativos de 2020-2021 que impulsaron la industria de los juegos, incluye 107 juegos, individuos, equipos y eventos diferentes que abarcan una multitud de géneros y plataformas de videojuegos.
En 2020, The Game Awards registró una cifra récord de 83 millones de retransmisiones en directo, lo que supone un aumento del 84% con respecto al año anterior. Tras adoptar un formato totalmente virtual el año pasado, The Game Awards volverá como una ceremonia en vivo y en directo en el Microsoft Theater el jueves 9 de diciembre de 2021, incluyendo el regreso de The Game Awards Orchestra, dirigida por Lorne Valfe. The Game Awards volverá a distribuirse como un livestream global gratuito en 4K UHD para los fans de todo el mundo a través de más de 40 plataformas globales de vídeo, sociales y de juegos. En las próximas semanas se anunciarán más detalles sobre las actuaciones musicales adicionales, los presentadores y la mayor lista de estrenos mundiales del espectáculo.
Los nominados al Juego del Año de este año son Deathloop (Arkane Studios/Bethesda), It Takes Two (Hazelight Studios/EA), Metroid Dream (Mercury Steam/Nintendo), Psychonauts 2 (Double FIne/Xbox Game Studios), Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Insomniac Games/SIE), y Resident Evil Village (Capcom).
En la categoría de Mejor Interpretación, de género neutro, un grupo diverso de actores competirá por el mayor honor de la industria. Entre los nominados se encuentran Giancarlo Esposito de Far Cry 6, Jason E. Kelley y Ozioma Akagha de Deathloop, Erika Mori de Life is Strange: True Colors, y Maggie Robertson de Resident Evil Village.
Este año, la recién combinada Xbox Game Studios y Bethesda es el editor más nominado con 20 nominaciones en su cartera combinada de juegos, seguido de Sony Interactive Entertainment con 11 nominaciones, y SQUARE ENIX y Electronic Arts con 10 nominaciones cada uno. Los nominados a The Game Awards son seleccionados por un jurado mundial compuesto por más de 100 publicaciones de medios de comunicación y medios de influencia.
Tras el anuncio de las nominaciones, los fans podrán ayudar a elegir a los ganadores de todas las categorías mediante una votación online autentificada en www.thegameawards.com. En China, los fans pueden votar por sus favoritos en Bilibili. Además, los fans determinarán la categoría «Mejor equipo de deportes electrónicos» a través de los DMs de Twitter de The Game Awards y compartirán la votación en sus líneas de tiempo, así como votarán a través del servidor Discord de The Game Awards.
